India Aims to Become a Global MICE Destination, Says Piyush Goyal at 43rd IITF

New Delhi, November 14, 2023 – Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, emphasized India's ambition to establish itself as a premier global destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) during the inaugural ceremony of the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan.

Speaking at the event, Goyal highlighted the significant potential of the MICE sector in boosting tourism and economic growth in India. He stated, "India is on the path to becoming a global MICE destination, and we are committed to enhancing our infrastructure and services to attract international events and conferences."

The IITF, which runs from November 14 to November 27, 2023, serves as a platform for showcasing India's diverse products and services, while also promoting trade and investment opportunities. This year, the fair features over 2,500 exhibitors from various sectors, including textiles, handicrafts, and technology, reflecting the country's rich cultural heritage and industrial capabilities.

Goyal pointed out that the MICE industry is crucial for generating employment and fostering innovation. He noted that the government is taking proactive measures to improve facilities and connectivity, making it easier for international delegates to visit India. "We are working on creating world-class venues and ensuring seamless travel experiences for our guests," he added.

The minister also underscored the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to realize this vision. He encouraged stakeholders to come together to promote India as a vibrant hub for global business events.

In addition to MICE, Goyal discussed the broader goals of the IITF, which include promoting 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives. He expressed optimism about the fair's potential to foster trade relations and attract foreign investment, ultimately contributing to India's economic growth.

As the fair unfolds, it is expected to draw significant attention from both domestic and international visitors, further solidifying India's position on the global trade map. With the government's commitment to enhancing the MICE sector, the future looks promising for India's aspirations to become a leading destination for international conferences and exhibitions.
